Bulgaria
Bulgaria has a very flexible program. We at Adoptions Forever do not have any
further restrictions than those stipulated by the Bulgarian government. In
addition to this, Adoptions Forever wants to help all those who want to adopt.
We realize adoption is expensive and many people can afford to raise children
but do not have the resources for adoption expenses. There are a number of ways
to finance an adoption, which I would be more than happy to discuss with you.
Qualifications
- Single and married couples may adopt.
- Children already in the home are permitted and there are no religious
restrictions.
- Both parents must be U.S. citizens.
- One parent must be at least 15 years older than the child and no more than
45 years.
- Families residing anywhere in the U.S can apply
General description of the children
Children from 12 months- 15 years are available for adoption. (Children with
medical needs under one year of age are sometimes available). The children are
generally healthy and are of mixed ancestry. Many times they are of Russian,
Bulgarian, Turkish and Gypsy descent. Most of the children are cared for in
orphanages, most of which are clean and well maintained.
Program Description
Once Bulgaria receives your completed dossier, it may take approximately 2
months for the referral of a child, sometimes less. You will receive medical
information, photos and a video when available. After acceptance of this
referral both parents will need to travel to Bulgaria within the next 2 months
to spend the required 5 days bonding with the child. We will inform you when to
travel to Bulgaria in advance, probably 2 weeks. Only one parent will need to
return to Bulgaria for the second trip to finalize the adoption process and take
the child home. (It would be possible to have your child escorted home if you
could not travel for the second trip). The duration of this trip will be 2-5
days depending on where in Bulgaria the orphanage is located. The total adoption
process takes approximately 6 months after Bulgaria receives your dossier. Post
placement reports for the next two years are REQUIRED.
Updates are given to parents every step of the way. Help with travel plans
and every other possible concern you have will be addressed prior to your
leaving. You will have an English-speaking guide throughout your stay to address
all your concerns. You will receive a list of things which might be helpful to
bring and make your trip that much easier. I personally am available to assist
you as your concerns arise 24/7.

This includes all administrative, medical and court fees, attorney’s
fees, in country translation of dossier, expenses for a companion and a
translator, transportation within Bulgaria, child visa and child medical exam.
Travel is not included. The 10,000.00 Bulgarian fee is to be paid as follows:
4,000 upon acceptance of a referral, 4,000.00 prior to your first contact with
your child and the remainder of 2,000.00 when you arrive in Bulgaria to complete
the process.

Travel expenses
Although 2 trips are
required for one or both parents, Bulgaria is considered an excellent value.
Goods and services are considerably less than in the West.
The above are my
best estimates. Foreign fees are always subject to change, however this should
come very close to what you can expect to pay.
